Blogging in the K-12 classroom

No doubt if you're a blog reader, or a blogger, you recognize some of the benefits blogging provides. It gives you a venue for publishing your work. It offers a space for creativity and work-sharing. For some, it serves as an online journal. But, have you considered using blogs in the classroom? Today, instead of reinventing the wheel, I'd like to share some links with you that highlight some of the intriguing ways blogs can be used to enhance the curriculum.

Question of the Day: What are some of your favorite blogs, educational or not? Do you use blogs in the classroom? Why or why not? If so, how?

  2. I have been considering creating a blog for Dads the last few weeks. It would talk about good restaurants for kids, clean restrooms, supportive employees, accommodations for women, etc. It has been so frustrating lately to go out with my family to find all of these places that are suppose to be kid friendly and they are so not. Just the other day we went to a major chain restaurant and there were only 3 high chairs for the whole restaurant that seated close to 300 people. 3, really, come on people. The manager told me that he was sorry and we could wait for one, but he thought it would be 30 to 45 minutes and then asked if my 21 month old could just sit in a chair? I asked him if he had kids which I knew the answer was already no. Anyways, think I would get any followers or guest writers for a blog of this sorts?

    1. That sounds really cool, Matthew! I definitely think you could get both followers and guest writers. One great way to solicit guest writers would be at KYSTE, since I'm pretty sure you always attend. As far as followers, you could solicit the site on Twitter and Pinterest, as well as with your coworkers and friends. It would be great to share the information with people from your church, as well.
